Beaver Dam Unified School District

The first day of classes for the 2012-2013 school year for grades 1- 6 and 9-12 is Tuesday, September 4.  Grades 7 and 8 will begin on Wednesday, September 5.  The 6th Grade Summer Camp will be held on September 4.

High School Information

Registration
High School student registration will be held on the following dates:
    Tuesday, August 7th - 7:00 am - 2:00 pm
    Wednesday, August 8th - 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    Monday, August 13th - 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
During registration students and their parents will be able to complete all necessary paperwork, pay fees and receive schedules.  School pictures will be taken during registration on August 7th & 8th. 

Fees
Required Registration Fee: $50

Activities:
• Optional $25 activity participation fee allows participation in all activities, such as Academic Decathlon, Debate, Forensics, Jazz Ensemble, Mock Trial, Musical, Pit Orchestra, Spring Drama Production, and SWAZZ; and admission to all athletic and activity events (excluding dances, musicals, plays, and WIAA Tournaments).
Athletics:
• Athletic fees are waived for the entire year for families who qualify for free and reduced lunch.
• $100 per student for athletics for the entire year (family maximum of $300 per year) for those who complete the free and reduced lunch application.
• $100 per student per sport (family maximum of $300 per year) for those who do not complete the free and reduced lunch application.

Student Parking Fee: $50 (not prorated)

Freshman Orientation
The Freshman class will be welcomed to Beaver Dam High School on Thursday, August 23rd. The orientation will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m.

Parents of Freshman students should attend one of the following sessions: 

Wednesday, August 22nd, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
                                       or
Thursday, August 23rd, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am

Both session will be held in the BDHS auditorium. Please enter at the circle doors located by the auditorium.

Don Smith Learning Academy Information

Registration
DSLA student registration will be held on the following dates:
     Wednesday, August 22nd - 9 am - 5 pm   
     Thursday, August 23rd - 8 am - 3 pm

Open House
Open house for students and parents will be on Tuesday, September 25th - 4 pm - 6 pm.

Picture Date
School pictures will be taken on Monday, October 1st.

Middle School Information

Registration
Middle School registration for students and parents will be held on the following dates and times:
      Tuesday, August 21st - 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
      Wednesday, August 22nd - 6:30 am -6:00 pm
      Thursday, August 23rd - 6:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Upon completion of the registration process, students will be issued their class schedule.

Fees
Required Registration Fee: $35
Co-curricular: $30 per activity (Family maximum of $120 per school year)

Orientation
6th Grade
An orientation meeting for all 6th grade students and parents will be held Tuesday, September 4, from 4 pm-6 pm in the auditorium (blue house) and gymnasium (red house).  Orientation for 6th grade students will be the first day of school, Tuesday, September 4.  7th & 8th grade students will start on Wednesday, September 5th.   

New 7th-8th Grade Student Orientation
Orientation for new 7th & 8th grade students and parents will be Wednesday, September 5, at 5 pm in the auditorium.

Open House
Open House for students and parents will be on Wednesday, August 29, from 4 pm-6 pm.

Picture Date
School pictures will be taken on September 10.

Registration
There is no formal registration day for elementary students.  Parents do not need to complete forms or pay registration fees prior to the first day of school.  Forms will be sent home with students on the first day of school.  New this year: Elementary schools will not be collecting the $30 registration fee at the beginning of the school year.  Families who are required to pay a registration fee will be billed in October. 

Kindergarten: Students will receive forms at Ready-Set-Go Conferences on September 4 or 5.  Per state law, children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2012, to be eligible to attend kindergarten.  Parents who have not previously registered their child for kindergarten should call 885-7300 for information and registration materials.

Jefferson Junction (Before and After School Program): Registration will be held on Thursday, August 30, 5:30 pm-7 pm at Jefferson Elementary School.

Lincoln Station (Before and After School Program): Registration will be held on Thursday, August 30, 5:30 pm-7 pm at Lincoln Elementary School.

Morning Milk Program
New this year: Morning milk will be deducted from the family lunch/breakfast account.  For each day a student takes morning milk, 30¢ per carton will be deducted.  By deducting directly from the lunch account, students are only charged for the milk they actually take instead of paying for an entire semester.  Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch will not be charged for morning milk.

Information Letters
Elementary schools will mail letters with class, school, and other beginning of the year information on August 17th.
