Trenton Elementary School Parent Spanish/English Conversation Group

Due to the increased number of Hispanic families attending Trenton, Washington & Prairie View Elementary Schools, and the challenges that many of our English Language Learners face in meeting academic benchmarks, Trenton invites parents of our ELL students to a monthly meeting held at Trenton Elementary School. These conversations groups occur on Saturday Mornings 1-2 times per month f rom 9-10AM. Preregistration forms are sent out the week before a scheduled Saturday meeting to determine how many staff are needed. Tutoring is available for school aged children in grades K-5, and daycare is provided for children ages 2-5. 

Refreshments are available.  As Building Principal, I or my designee is in attendance to meet with parents and ensure that everything is going according to plan. Several BDUSD will rotate helping meet the needs of parents, preschool age children ages 2+ and elementary school aged students. Typically, the children are broken up into an older group and a younger group and then educational review games are played in math and reading to enhance those skills. The younger group also has story time and play time.

Once the hour long meeting is complete, children and parents meet with staff and enjoy refreshments and socialize generally for an additional 30 minutes. We do invite any interested elementary families who wish to work on their English language speaking, reading or writing skills to join us.
