Attendance & Truancy
Regular school attendance is essential for successful school work. However, we do not expect a student who is ill to attend school. Children contracting a communicable disease should report it to the school nurse. The nurse will be able to tell you how long your child must stay out of school for the various diseases.
The Municipal Court of the City of Beaver Dam has authority to impose penalties for failure to attend classes. A child is prohibited from being a habitual truant. An habitual truant is a pupil who is absent from school without an acceptable excuse for part or all of five (5) days on which school is held during a semester, or more than ten (10) days in a school year. Please see the Character Handbook for more information.
